Save the Date: TELUS Walk for the Cure is on June 11, 2017!

To our good friends and family,

Time is flying by and we’re writing this to ask you to SAVE THE DATE for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, TELUS Walk for the Cure on June 11, 2017!! We hope you can join us this year to walk with Jack’s Team Jack of Hearts.

We hope you can join us this year to walk with Jack’s Team Jack of Hearts.

TEAM JACK OF HEARTS supporters have helped raised a whopping $270,000 over the past 11 year, all towards Juvenile Diabetes research!!!

That is amazing!!

Jack’s diabetic life continues with countless blood tests, needle injections and hospital visits. Every day starts the same….check glucose levels, 2 injections, dietary monitoring. Not what every teenager starts his day with. Being a teenager with Type 1 Diabetes is tough. Everything affects diabetes. Hormones, stress, focus, adrenalin, school, pressure, “girls”, and so on. But Jack does not let diabetes change the way he lives life!!

Jack participates actively in everything that he can. He was in the Handsworth spring play, and loves his drama class. He is playing spring Basketball, Ultimate Frisbee, coaching basketball, and still volunteering with Challenger Baseball. Jack is out to prove that diabetes will not, and has not changed him.

Jack’s many friends, are a huge part of his support group whether they know it or not. Jack’s goal is to bring awareness and funding to Type 1 Diabetes research and he knows the research is getting close.

One small heart, has joined our drive for this year. Jack’s four year old cousin was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes in February. He is someone you should meet. He is little, but strong, and knows that if he does his needles “just like Jack” he will feel better. He is tough, but at 4 and sometimes it hurts, like really hurts, to have his needles at breakfast, lunch, and dinner……..so we need to walk……

Jack will have his little buddy with him this year; his determination is even more real.

The JDRF Telus Walk for the Cure this year is set for Sunday June 11th, it is in Stanley Park, with the start at Lumberman’s Arch at 11:00am. We send this email to ask you to join us on June 11th to come and walk with Jack, and his little buddy. We had 140 walkers last year. Team Jack of Hearts was awarded the largest Family Walk Team in Western Canada again!!! Jack’s goal this year is to bring more walkers. We know many of you may be involved with Grad events, but just roll into Stanley Park, we will lift you up, you will feel good for having been a part of the Team Jack of Hearts experience. Let’s make it happen!
